I first visited Portugal on a long weekend trip with my family in 2019. We spent a glorious vacation in Lisbon taking in spectacular views from famous viewpoints like the Castelo de São Jorge and Miradouro de Santa Luzia, admiring precious works of art from the Gulbenkian Museum, and chowing down the freshest seafood at Lisbon’s best restaurants.

In the fall of 2023, I decided to pack up my suitcases and move to Lisbon for three whole months! Although I was based in Lisbon, I was lucky enough to tour some of Portugal’s best destinations like Porto and the Douro Valley, Lagos, Madeira’s “eternal spring,” and Sintra’s medieval castles. Although Lisbon is definitely worth a visit, I fell in love with the rest of Portugal even more.
